NGOZI NNAJI, MS

Founder / Managing Partner

Ngozi is the Founder of Ako Insurance Consulting, which she started in response to the growing need for the insurance industry to increase representation of Black professionals.  In the 25 years prior to starting Ako , Ngozi held various roles.  She started her insurance career as an Underwriter, but also spent a notable amount of in production, business development, and service roles with global insurance carriers and brokerage firms.  In attempt to play a more impactful role in the insurance industry, Ngozi started her own independent insurance agency where she not only educates her clients about insurance as a wealth building tool but also the career opportunities in the industry that she has grown to love.

Ngozi's passion for insurance is only matched by her passion for diversity and inclusion.  Although not professional trained in the space, Ngozi is a visionary when it comes to identifying strategies that create "intentional progress".  At Ako, Ngozi is responsible for the strategic direction of the firm and the engagement of talent seekers as they look to develop a more inclusive and intercultural workplace  that effectively recruits and retains Black talent.

YVONNE ALSTON

Career Consultant

Yvonne is a seasoned Marketing and Communications professional with 20 years’ experience supporting organizations in various industries. Most recently, her talents supported several lines of business at The Hartford including National Accounts, Bond, Credit and Political Risk Insurance and Captives. She is passionate about championing diversity and equity in all walks of life but in particular, expanding opportunities for Black and Brown professionals in the insurance industry.

 

Leveraging her years of strong communication, marketing and PR skills, Yvonne is one of Ako’s lead Talent Consultants. She helps grow Ako’s talent pool, interfaces with new members, and offers performance development coaching to help candidates best position themselves for talent seekers and desired roles.
